There's nothing quite like the experience of moving through the countryside when you're doing so by galloping along comfortably on your horse. One thing that helps to make it enjoyable is a well made saddle between you and your trusty steed.
The domestication of the riding horse dates back many thousands of years, possibly as early as 4000 BC. However, horses were ridden bareback in the beginning. In fact, many ancient wars were fought on horseback without the aid of saddles. However, as time went on, the saddle was invented and evolved from a simple cloth between horse and rider into more advanced, elaborate and padded designs which includes the invention of the solid saddle tree which allowed the development of the true stirrup. The saddle tree was an important advancement because without a solid tree built into the saddle, the rider's weight creates uncomfortable pressure points on the horse.
The Western Saddle as we know it today descends directly from designs that were used for horses on working cattle ranches in the United States and Mexico. Traditionally, they have been made from leather, rawhide, sheep skin, padding on the seat made from various natural materials and laminated wood for the tree portion. Although the Western Wintec Saddle is not made from the traditional real animal materials, it's just as durable and so comfortable that professional riders swear by them.
